Critics Pray Success of Happy Gilmore 2 and Satan’s Popularity Doesn’t Spark Little Nicky Reboot
In the wake of Happy Gilmore 2’s record-breaking Netflix debut and a bizarre cultural resurgence of Satan-themed content, critics are reportedly gathering in informal prayer circles to beg the universe not to unleash Little Nicky 2.
“Look, we tolerated Murder Mystery 2,” said one exhausted film critic. “But Little Nicky was a war crime in cinematic form. Let sleeping devils lie.”
The original 2000 film, which featured Adam Sandler as a nasally, half-demon son of Satan with a Popeye’s chicken addiction, was universally panned by critics and made audiences question the limits of forgiveness.
Yet thanks to the unlikely success of Happy Gilmore 2 and a recent South Park episode that depicted Satan as a misunderstood sex icon, industry insiders worry that Sandler might interpret these signs as cosmic encouragement.
“We’re just one pentagram away from a greenlight,” warned one entertainment analyst, lighting a precautionary sage bundle in the Netflix lobby.
So far, Sandler has remained vague about a reboot, simply stating, “No comment,” while nervously cradling a Thermos labeled “Nicky Juice.”
Critics remain hopeful. “We’ve been through a lot as a species,” one whispered. “Let’s not test what little faith we have left.”
